An open emitter fires its LED across a gap at the lens, and anything that lands in that gap — rain, silt, a smear of BB lube — lands directly in the light path. The Defender-CCW closes the gap entirely: the emitter sits inside a 7075 aluminium shell with glass at both ends, so the thing that breaks a dot sight in British weather simply has nowhere to sit.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eReticle choice is the other half of it. One press cycles a bare 3 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or both together. The dot alone is what you want on a target the size of a playing card; the circle is what finds the window fast when the gun comes up from retention and your eyes have not caught up yet.
