The M1 Garand was the rifle General Patton called 'the greatest battle implement ever devised', the standard-issue US rifle of the Second World War. This A&K replica captures it beautifully in real wood and full metal, with the size, the lines and the considerable weight of the original.
Unlike many display replicas, this one is a working AEG: an electric gearbox drives it, so it actually skirmishes. It fires semi-auto like the original and, being an AEG, can also run full-auto, fed from removable 20-round magazines rather than the historic en-bloc clip for practicality on the field.
It's a centrepiece for WWII re-enactment and historical milsim, where authenticity matters, but it's equally a statement piece for any collection. The 6.05mm tightbore inner barrel and adjustable rotary hop-up, accessible under the mock bolt, mean it shoots respectably as well as looking the part.
At around 3.6kg and 1120mm it has real presence, and the wood-and-steel build means it handles like a proper rifle. It's one of those guns that turns heads at the safe zone.
What's on the outside
Real wood furniture sits over a full-metal body, with the Garand's distinctive op-rod and sights. The hop-up adjusts under the charging handle, and it feeds from 20-round A&K Garand magazines through a 445mm inner barrel.
