Pyrotechnics in UK airsoft are categorised under the UK Pyrotechnic Articles (Safety) Regulations and the Explosives Regulations 2014 — they're legal to buy, sell, and use, but with specific compliance requirements that gas grenades don't have. Buyers must be 18+, we verify age at checkout, and certain higher-category items are restricted to specific use cases or licensed buyers. Pyro can only be used at sites that permit it — most outdoor UK airsoft sites do; most indoor CQB sites do not.

Three main pyro categories cover the UK market. Smoke grenades (Enola Gaye Burst, EG18, Wire Pull) are the most common — create dense coloured smoke for visual cover, signalling, or scenario effect. Burn times range from 30 seconds to 90 seconds. Flash-bangs and thunderflashes are the higher-impact variants — produce a loud bang and bright flash on detonation, used for breach scenarios and room-clearing simulations. Specialist items include trip-wire pyro mines, ground bursts, and scenario-specific devices for milsim.

Brand-wise, Enola Gaye is the UK pyro standard — manufactured in the UK, UN-tested, the brand every UK skirmish site that permits pyro will recognise and accept on chrono day.
