Plate Carriers

The full milsim loadout option. Plate carriers hold dummy plates, full MOLLE coverage on every panel, and the capacity to carry the maximum loadout an airsoft player needs.

A plate carrier is the heavy-loadout option in airsoft. Real plate carriers hold ceramic or steel ballistic plates that stop rifle rounds — airsoft plate carriers hold dummy plates that don't, but the form factor, MOLLE coverage, and silhouette are identical. For UK milsim, force-on-force training, and players running impressions of US/UK/NATO military units, the plate carrier is the visual and functional default. For lighter UK skirmish, see the chest rigs collection or battle belts.

Common patterns in airsoft cover the major real-steel designs. Crye Precision JPC and JPC 2.0 are the most-replicated pattern — minimalist plate carrier with quick-release shoulder straps, the modern US SOF standard. Crye AVS (Adaptive Vest System) is the heavier sibling — full MOLLE coverage, modular cummerbund, the milsim heavyweight option. Mayflower / Velocity Systems APC patterns are the legacy alternatives. Modular placard-pattern carriers (Spiritus Systems-derived) integrate with chest rig placards for swappable front panels.

Dummy plates are the foam or polymer inserts that fill the plate pockets to give the carrier its proper silhouette. Without plates, the carrier looks floppy and uncomfortable; with plates, it has the proper military profile. Most airsoft players buy carriers and plates separately — check that the carrier includes plates before ordering, or factor plate cost into the budget. Sizing: most plate carriers adjust significantly via the shoulder straps and cummerbund. Standard sizes accommodate 5'8" to 6'2" wearers with chest sizes 36"-46" — outside that range, look for specific small or large variants. For pouches and chest rig placards that mount on the front, see the dedicated collections.

💡 Titan Forge tip: If you're undecided between a plate carrier and a chest rig, consider a chest rig that's plate-carrier-compatible. Several modern chest rigs can clip onto a Crye JPC front, giving you the chest rig for lightweight play and the option to upgrade to a full carrier without buying a different chest rig later. Modular thinking saves money.
