Foam

The protection inside the case. Pluck foam for DIY customisation, egg-crate for general padding, custom-cut for production setups — match the foam to the rifle and the case.

A hard case without proper foam is a hollow box that lets the rifle bounce around inside — defeating the entire point of the hard case. The foam insert is what shapes the case interior around your specific rifle, absorbs impact during transport, and keeps accessories organised in designated positions. Most hard cases ship with basic foam but it's often the first thing serious airsoft players replace or upgrade.

Three foam types. Pluck foam (sometimes called "pick foam" or "pre-cut foam") is the DIY-friendly option — pre-scored into small square or hexagonal sections that you pluck out by hand to create cutouts shaped to your specific rifle and accessories. No tools required, fully customisable, perfect for setups that change over time. Egg-crate foam (the bumpy convoluted foam you find in most padded cases) provides general padding and impact absorption without specific cutouts — the right choice when the case will hold multiple different items at different times. Custom-cut foam is precision-cut to specific rifle outlines using a CNC or hot-wire cutter — available as pre-made inserts for popular rifle patterns (M4, AK, MP5) or as a custom service for specific builds.

What to consider. Foam density matters — soft foam (low density) compresses under impact but doesn't recover well, leading to gaps and movement over time. Higher-density closed-cell foam is more impact-resistant and longer-lived. Thickness should match the case depth — too thin and the rifle sits proud of the case rim; too thick and the lid won't close properly. Most replacement foam comes in 20mm, 30mm, 40mm, or 50mm thicknesses — measure your case before ordering. For the hard cases the foam goes inside, see the dedicated collection.

💡 Titan Forge tip: If you're customising pluck foam for the first time, plan the layout before plucking. Lay the rifle on the un-plucked foam first, trace the outline lightly with a pen, then pluck within the line — rather than plucking by eye and trying to fit the rifle afterward. Pluck foam doesn't grow back. Better to take 10 minutes planning than to discover the cutout is 5mm too small on one side.
