Most HPA engines on the market are designed for centreline-nozzle AEGs — the M4-style platform where the air nozzle sits directly behind the hop-up unit on the bore centreline. That works for around 80% of AEG conversions, but it leaves platforms like the P90, M14, PDR, Thompson and F2000 stuck on AEG performance because their gearboxes feed BBs off-centre. The HYDRA exists to solve exactly that problem.
The HYDRA Gen 2 inherits the hybrid open/closed-bolt poppet system that made the INFERNO Gen 2 the benchmark drop-in HPA engine of the last decade. What's different is the offset-nozzle architecture: an independent poppet and nozzle layout that delivers a centreline-quality air seal even when the BB feed path runs off-axis. A front bushing plate added in Gen 2 stabilises the nozzle during firing for tighter, more repeatable groups — matching the consistency Wolverine's centreline engines achieve in M4 builds.
Each HYDRA Gen 2 kit ships with the engine, the Gen 2 Premium FCU, and all the platform-specific hardware you need to drop into your specific AEG. Choose the platform from the variant selector. ROF runs 5–35 RPS, though some platforms (particularly the M14's spring-fed magazine) won't hit the top of that range because of mechanical feeding limits — this is normal and documented by Wolverine.
If you're converting a P90 the HYDRA opens up a category of HPA SMGs that simply isn't available elsewhere. The same applies to designated-marksman M14 builds, which become genuinely viable as DMRs once they're running on HPA. The Thompson variant is for collectors and themed-loadout players who want the look without the AEG compromises. PDR support covers Magpul-style PDR-C platforms.
