Most AEGs are replicas of firearms, which means they inherit design decisions made for reasons that have nothing to do with airsoft — magazine wells sized for cartridges, controls placed for gloves in a different climate, weight distributed around a gas system that is not there. The Originals line is KWA building what they actually want to build, and the EVE-9 is the longer of the two: in KWA’s own words, intended to rival their T10 without the kickback of a recoil system, and a deliberate nod back to the original Ronin 10 SBR.
The result is a rifle that weighs 5.6lb — a full pound less than its predecessors — thanks to a high-strength polymer receiver set and M-LOK handguard. Over a long game day that difference is felt in the shoulders rather than measured on a scale, and the balance is noticeably better for having less mass hanging off the front.
The side charging handle is the detail people notice second. It gives you hop-up access without breaking the gun open, so adjusting between BB weights, after a barrel change, or when the weather turns takes seconds at the safe zone table rather than a strip-down and a lost half hour.
Underneath sits KWA’s AEG2.5+ gearbox with VPS — the Variable Performance System, which puts FPS adjustment on the outside of the gearbox rather than inside it. A gun set up for a woodland limit can be turned down for a CQB site without opening anything, which for anyone playing more than one venue is the difference between owning one rifle and owning two. It is the same gearbox KWA fit to the TK.45c, Ronin T6, QRF Mod series and Ronin 47.
What’s on the outside
A 9-inch K.O.R.E M-LOK handguard gives plenty of mounting length without adding rail you are not using. PTS Enhanced Polymer sights come fitted, along with a two-port muzzle brake, KWA’s slim-line vertical grip and a PDW-style stock that adjusts between 27.5 and 30.5 inches. Fire controls are fully ambidextrous, and there are quick-detach sling sockets front and rear.

Good to know before you buy
You will need a battery, a charger, BBs and magazines to get playing — the rifle ships without them. The battery connector is Deans.
If upgrades are on your mind, the gearbox is drop-in ready for most aftermarket electronic trigger units, but KWA state it is not compatible with the GATE ASTER. Ask us before buying an ETU for it and we will point you at one that fits.
Frequently asked questions
What does Originals mean?
It is KWA’s own design rather than a licensed replica of a real firearm. The EVE line was drawn around what works for airsoft, which is why the ergonomics and weight distribution feel different from a converted rifle.
What is VPS?
KWA’s Variable Performance System — externally adjustable FPS built into the gearbox. Set the gun for an outdoor limit, turn it down for CQB, and never open the shell. One rifle covering both is the practical benefit.
Can I fit a GATE ASTER to it?
No. KWA specifically state the EVE is not ASTER compatible. It is drop-in ready for most other aftermarket electronic trigger units, so tell us what you had in mind and we will recommend one that works.
How does it compare to the EVE-4?
The EVE-9 is the longer of the two at 5.6lb, with a 9-inch handguard and a 10.5-inch outer barrel. The EVE-4 is shorter and lighter at 4.6lb. Both use the same AEG2.5+ VPS gearbox.
Is it left-hand friendly?
The fire controls are fully ambidextrous and there are sling sockets on both ends, so yes.
What battery does it take?
A LiPo with a Deans connector. Tell us your preference and we will put a battery and charger together with it.
