- description
Grip angle is one of the few ergonomic choices on a rifle that genuinely changes how you shoot rather than how it looks. A straight, near-vertical grip suits a squared-up modern stance and a high elbow, and it keeps the trigger finger travelling straight back rather than dragging across the shoe.
Monk Customs built the ESG for their own builds before it became a product, and this version is cut specifically for the Wolverine Heretic Labs Article I rather than adapted from an AR grip. On a platform where the grip has to clear the engine and any battery routing, that specificity matters.
If you prefer a raked grip, the same ESG is made in an angled profile for the Article I, and a further version for the Article II.

Good to know
Monk categorise the ESG as an aluminium grip but publish no weight or texture specification, so neither is stated here. What is documented is the fitment: Article I, straight profile. Monk also state the grip is compatible with all ESG regulator housing versions.
What you are ordering. Monk build the ESG in more configurations than we hold. These are the ergonomic bulge profile with a black gripwell. Monk also make a slimmer no-bulge cut and a silver gripwell. If you want one of those, ask and we will price it as a special order.
Frequently asked questions
Will it fit an Article II? No. Monk make a separate ESG for the Article II, including a version with the front gauge cut-out.
Straight or angled — which should I pick? Straight suits a squared stance and a high grip; angled suits a more bladed stance or a longer reach to the trigger. Neither is better, and if you can, handle both.
What is the ergonomic bulge? The fuller palm swell on the back of the grip. Monk offer a slimmer no-bulge cut as an alternative; we stock the bulge version by default.
Does it fit a standard MTW? This one is cut for the Heretic Labs Article I specifically. For a standard MTW, look at the DLG grip instead.
