Vayu — a skeletonised hexagon hand guard built to take weight off the front of an Article build. Compatible with Heretic Labs Article I and II, in seven finishes and two lengths.

Weight at the muzzle end costs you more than weight anywhere else on a rifle. It is the part you hold out unsupported, the part that decides how quickly the gun swings onto a target, and the part your leading arm is still holding up in the fourth hour of a game day. Skeletonising a hand guard attacks exactly that.

The Vayu takes a hexagonal cut pattern through the body, which removes material while leaving a continuous structure rather than a series of unsupported ribs. Monk note that the open pattern also improves ventilation. They named it after the Hindu god of wind and air, and pitch it squarely at speedsoft players who want the gun to move quickly.

Unlike Monk's Helix barrel, the Vayu carries an explicit fitment: Monk state it is compatible with the Heretic Labs Article I and Article II. If you are running either, this is a direct option rather than something to check.

Good to know

Monk describe the Vayu as ultra-light but publish no weight in grams and no material, so neither figure appears here. What they do document is the fitment, the two lengths and the seven finishes, and a skeletonised design intended to cut weight and improve ventilation without giving up durability.

Not every finish and length combination is held by our usual supplier. Where one has to come direct from Monk it may take longer to reach you — ask before ordering if timing matters.

Frequently asked questions

6in or 7in? Measure the guard you are replacing, or the length of rail you want ahead of the receiver. The two are not interchangeable once the build is together.

How much weight does it actually save? Not published, and we are not going to estimate it. If a number matters to you before buying, ask and we will try to get one from the supplier.

What rail interface does it use? Not stated by Monk. Tell us how your Article is set up and we will confirm before ordering.

Will a skeletonised guard get hot or catch on kit? Airsoft barrels do not get hot enough to matter. Open cuts can snag on loose webbing, which is worth a thought if you run a lot of dangling gear up front.

Does it pair with the Helix barrel? That is the intended look — an open guard is what makes a machined barrel visible, and Monk build both.

💡 Titan Forge Airsoft tip: Take the weight off the front before you take it off anywhere else — it is the change you feel first. See MTW-spec parts and upgrades.
