A magazine catch is a spring, a button and a machined catch working against a magazine well that gets full of grit. When the spring tires, magazines start to sit low; when the catch face wears, they rattle; when both go, they drop out unasked during a sprint.
It is a more involved part to live with than it looks, because a marginal catch produces feed problems that look exactly like a hop or a nozzle fault. People chase those for weeks.

Does it fit the MTW-9 or MTW-308? No. Those take their own catches — this is the M4-pattern assembly.
Can I fit an ambidextrous catch instead? Not from Wolverine for this platform. This is the standard assembly.
