The stock Wolverine MTW outer barrel is aluminium. Functional, precise, and heavier than it needs to be. The OG Carbon 7" replacement is built from roll-wrapped forged carbon — a manufacturing process where short carbon strands are mixed with resin, compression-moulded under high pressure, and machined to final dimensions. The material properties matter here: forged carbon has exceptional strength in all directions because the fibre orientation is random. There are no directional weak points, which is why it's the right choice for a component that takes handling stress from unpredictable angles in the field.
The 7" length defines a platform that handles like a PDW. Everything about a 7" MTW build is oriented around compactness — fast transitions, tight building clearance, close-quarter engagements where the rifle needs to swing rather than aim. At this length, the weight saving from the forged carbon body over the stock aluminium barrel is felt most clearly at the muzzle end, where removing mass shifts the balance point rearward and reduces the effort of holding the rifle on target for extended periods.
The 7075 aerospace aluminium end fittings at both ends of the barrel are CNC machined to tight tolerances. These are the connection points that carry the mechanical load — forged carbon transitions to aluminium where strength-per-millimetre matters most, and the dimensional precision ensures a solid, rattle-free fitment to the MTW receiver.
