📖 New to HPA? This runs on external high pressure air — it needs a tank, a regulator and a line before it will fire a shot. Read our complete HPA guide before buying.
The same gun underneath, with plainer furniture on top. Standard and Tactical share a receiver, an engine and a control board. What you are choosing between is a flash hider, a grip and a stock — and if you are replacing those anyway, this is the one to buy.

Trim levels on the MTW do not touch the firing parts. A Billet Standard and a Billet Tactical both use the Gen 3 billet receiver set, both run an INFERNO Gen 2 on a Spartan control board, both have the CNC feed tube and the tool-less strip, and both chrono identically. The difference is a 1045 steel flash hider, a premium real-steel grip and a heavy-duty milspec stock.

That matters because furniture is the cheapest thing on an AR to change and the most personal. If you already own a grip you like, or you are building to a particular look, paying the Tactical premium for parts you will unbolt is money better spent on air.

What you are paying for either way is the receiver. Wolverine machine it from solid 6061 and hold what they call Intrinsic Alignment — the engine, hop unit and inner barrel sit on a common axis straight from the factory, with no shimming. That is the part you cannot retrofit.

Frequently asked questions

Does it shoot any differently from the Tactical? No. Same receiver, same engine, same board, same barrel. The difference is three pieces of furniture.

Can I upgrade it later? Yes, and that is the argument for buying it. It is MTW-Spec, so the engine, the board, the rail and the furniture are all replaceable without touching the lower.

What is Intrinsic Alignment? Wolverine machine the receiver so the engine, hop unit and inner barrel share one axis with no shimming needed. It is a property of the receiver, which is why it cannot be added afterwards.

Is it efficient? The only efficiency figure Wolverine publish is for the XTS engine on a ten-inch gun, and it lands in the three to four thousand round region per 48/3000 bottle at low energy. The Gen 2 in this one is a different engine, so treat that as a neighbour rather than a quote.

Will it go under a CQB limit? Yes. Set the output on the regulator and the dwell on the board, then chrono it on the day.

⚠ Always run a secondary regulator. Never put tank pressure straight into the engine. Set your output before you shoot, and chrono at the site every time.
