Billet and Forged are two different answers to the same problem. A billet receiver is cut from a solid block, which lets Wolverine hold tolerances very tightly. A forged receiver is hammered into shape first and then machined, which is how real AR-15 receivers are made — so a forged MTW has the details a real rifle has, and the ones a billet gun leaves out.
Those details are not cosmetic. The forward assist and the spring-loaded charging handle give you the handling drills you would use on a real carbine. The ambidextrous selector with steel paddles works from either side, which matters if you shoot left-handed or shoulder-swap in cover. The trigger guard comes out with gloved hands on.
This build pairs that receiver with the INFERNO Gen 2 on the Spartan control board. That is the simpler electronics package: everything is set from the gun itself, with no app and nothing to pair. It is also the quieter one to own, because there is no firmware to keep current and no phone to find in a safe zone.
A metal hop unit sits behind a 285mm inner barrel, and empty-mag detection works along with the bolt catch when you run Wolverine magazines. Air comes in through the integrated filtered grip line, so the filter is in the path before the engine sees anything.

Frequently asked questions
How does this differ from the Forged Tactical XB? Two parts of it. This one has the INFERNO Gen 2 and the Spartan board, both configured at the gun itself. The XB swaps in the XTS engine and the BLINC FCU, which you drive from an app.
Is a forged receiver stronger than a billet one? In real firearms forging aligns the grain of the metal, which is why it is the traditional method. On an airsoft gun neither is anywhere near its limit, so pick the one whose features and feel you prefer rather than worrying about strength.
Does the forward assist actually do anything? Not mechanically, in the way it would on a real rifle. It is there so the handling drills and the manual of arms match, which is the point of a forged receiver.
Can I fit real AR furniture? Yes. Real-steel grips, stocks, buffer tubes and sling plates fit directly, and the rail takes M-LOK accessories.
Can I upgrade the engine later? Yes. The engine, the board and the hop body are all MTW-Spec, so an XTS and a BLINC drop in without touching the receiver.
