The buffer tube is where the stock attaches. It's a structural component that carries the load of the stock under recoil and general handling — which is why it needs a metal thread interface despite the carbon fibre body. The precision-machined 7075 aluminium mil-spec thread fittings handle that load correctly. The forged carbon is there to reduce the weight of the tube itself while matching the rigidity of the aluminium original.

Weight at the rear of the rifle affects balance differently to weight at the front. Removing mass from the rear shifts the balance point forward, which some builders want and others don't. On an MTW that already carries OG Carbon components at the front — carbon outer barrel, lightweight barrel nut — a carbon buffer tube at the rear maintains balance rather than tipping it. The complete carbon build approach works because the weight reductions are distributed rather than concentrated.

FRAC compatibility is confirmed. FRAC (Fixed Rear Airline Connector) is a stock mounting system used with specific aftermarket stocks that require a compatible receiver interface. If your build uses or will use a FRAC, this buffer tube supports that configuration. If you're running a standard mil-spec stock, it fits that too.
