O-ring wear is the most common cause of slow leaks and inconsistent output pressure on the Cat5. Regular inspection (particularly after heavy use or extended storage) and replacing worn seals before they fail is better practice than waiting for a problem to develop. Inspect periodically for flattening, cracking, or visible surface damage. Safety note: always fully depressurise the system before opening the regulator. Apply a thin coat of silicone-based lubricant during installation — never use petroleum-based grease as it will degrade the rubber.
