ASG McMillan M40A3 Spring Sniper Rifle

The M40A3 is the United States Marine Corps' bolt-action sniper rifle, and this is a fully-licensed McMillan replica produced for ASG by VFC, a pedigree that shows in the fit and finish. It's a spring-powered bolt-action, so it's battery and gas free, reliable and quiet.

Out of the box it's known for a strong air seal and genuine accuracy, comfortably reaching engagement distances of up to around 80 metres once dialled in. The bolt is smooth, the trigger is crisp, and it has a long-standing reputation as one of the best-value sniper rifles you can buy at the price.

It feeds from a 27-round magazine and runs a 470mm inner barrel, with an adjustable hop-up for tuning range and lift. The realistic McMillan stock gives a comfortable cheek weld and a stable platform for a scope and bipod.

Like most quality spring snipers it's also a strong upgrade base, and players regularly fit tighter barrels, better hop units and heavier springs to push consistency further. As supplied it's already a capable marksman's tool at a sensible out-of-the-box power level.

What's on the outside

It measures around 1125mm with a fixed McMillan-style stock, a 470mm inner barrel and a 27-round magazine. The hop-up is adjustable and the rifle takes a scope on its mounting rail.
