The single most useful thing a belt does is hold a holster upright instead of letting it roll outwards, and that takes stiffness rather than width. The Bare Bones gets there with resin-treated mil-spec webbing, which stays rigid across its width without the laminate and MOLLE layers that make a war belt thick.
Ranger green is the reason to pick this one over the black. In woodland the waist is roughly eye-height for anyone crouched, and a dark horizontal band there is the shape that gets spotted first. Green breaks that line up without going as far as a full camouflage pattern, which on a narrow belt tends to read as noise anyway.
Closure is a Fidlock magnetic quick release. The halves find each other and seat themselves; releasing means tilting a stainless flap, and the force required scales with how much weight is on the belt. It is quicker one-handed than a Cobra and, on a light belt, easier on cold fingers.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the adjustment smaller than on the 2″ belts? The Bare Bones runs roughly 2″ of adjustment against 6″ on the wider belts. It is a thinner, simpler belt with less overlap to play with, so buy your true size.
Will a drop-leg holster work with it? Yes, provided the holster hanger clamps to a 1.75″ belt rather than needing MOLLE. Check before ordering.
How does it compare to the MST Gen 3? The Gen 3 is also 1.75″ but adds a laser-cut sleeve and a Cobra buckle. The Bare Bones is the lighter, cheaper, attachment-free version of the same idea.
