- description
A support gun earns its place by holding a lane rather than clearing a room. The long barrel and the bipod are the whole point: set up in a supported position, you can keep a corridor or a treeline honest in a way nobody with a carbine can, and the 800-round magazines mean you are not reloading every few minutes while you do it.
The M in RPK-74M is the modernisation, and the headline is the stock. Where earlier RPKs use a fixed wooden or polymer stock, this one folds to the side, so a gun with this much barrel still goes in a normal rifle bag.
The build is polymer where you handle it and steel where it matters. Stock, handguard, pistol grip and magazine are polymer; the receiver and top cover, bipod, flash hider, trigger guard, magazine catch and cleaning rod are steel.

Good to know
Filling a pair of 800-round hi-caps by hand is a job in itself. Anyone who runs one of these regularly tends to move to a drum or an electric magazine, so it is worth planning for up front.
Our supplier lists this gun as an RPKS-74. It is not — the barcode matches CYMA's CM052A, a modernised RPK on polymer furniture whose stock hinges sideways. The genuine RPKS-74 is a separate model finished in real wood. We have listed this as the model it actually is.
Frequently asked questions
How does this differ from the CM052? Furniture and stock. The CM052 is the RPK-74 with real wood and a fixed stock; this is the RPK-74M, polymer furniture with a stock that folds to the side.
Is the bipod included? Yes, a steel bipod is fitted to the gun.
What is the rate of fire? Around 20 rounds per second, which suits sustained supporting fire rather than short snap shots.
Does it take AK magazines? It ships with two 800-round hi-caps. It is an AK-pattern support weapon, so check the fit of any specific magazine before buying several.
