Of all the MP5 variants the SD is the one people buy on looks, and fairly so. The full-length shroud gives it a presence nothing bolted on afterwards can match, and because the housing is part of the gun there is no thread to work loose or adaptor to lose.
The 6 in the name is the stock: a retracting three-position tube with a rubber pad, so you get the SD profile without committing to a fixed stock.
Internally it matches the rest of the second-generation line — Version 2 gearbox, 8mm steel ball bearings, 13:1 CNC short-stroke gears, quick-change spring and the Kestrel V2 trigger unit with its adjustable pre-cocking, active braking and battery protection.

Good to know
The shroud is a housing, not a working suppressor — it changes the look rather than the sound. It does give you somewhere to hide a tracer unit, which is the trick most SD owners use.
Frequently asked questions
Does the shroud actually quieten it? Not meaningfully. It is a shaped housing built into the gun, so treat it as the silhouette you are buying rather than a sound solution.
Can I fit a tracer? There is a 14mm counter-clockwise thread at the muzzle, so a tracer fits. Check the length of yours against the space inside the shroud first.
What does the 6 mean? The stock. An SD6 has the retracting three-position stock; other SD numbers use a fixed one.
Does the battery go in the stock? No, it sits forward under the shroud, so pick a pack that suits that space.
