Short guns dominate airsoft because sites are tight and short guns are easier to carry. The cost is reach, and anyone who has tried to hold an open flank with a 9 inch carbine knows it. A full-length M4A1 is the answer to that, and this is the only one in the licensed Double Eagle range.
The handguard is the genuine RIS II pattern, railed on all four faces, with a continuous 22mm rail running the length of the top. That gives you somewhere to put a magnified optic at the right eye relief and still leaves room for a light, a laser and a foregrip without stacking them on top of each other.
At 730mm and roughly 2,880 grams it is the heaviest gun in this family, which is the honest trade. The stock is Daniel Defence's own adjustable unit, each rifle carries an individual serial number, and the build mixes aluminium and steel with ABS and rubber where your hands go.

Good to know
The 12.5 in the name is the handguard, not the barrel. Double Eagle publish the outer barrel at 14.5 inches, so work from that figure if you are ordering a muzzle device or measuring for a suppressor sleeve.
It runs the same MWS gas system as the rest of the range, which means the aftermarket for nozzles, bolts, hop units and magazines already covers it. One magazine comes in the box and that is not a game day, so buy spares with the gun.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the MK18 in the range? Barrel and rail length. This is the full-length M4A1 with a 14.5 inch barrel under a 12.5 inch RIS II rail; the MK18 is the short-barrelled version of the same platform.
Is the licensing genuine? Yes, officially licensed through EMG and Double Eagle.
What magazines does it use? MWS pattern gas magazines. A 35-round aluminium magazine is supplied.
Is it heavy? Around 2,880 grams, which makes it the heaviest in this family. That is the price of the extra barrel and rail.
