A standard M4 gas system wears in predictable places. The bolt takes a beating, the striker and valve hammer follow, and eventually the bolt stops locking back on the last shot. Double Eagle addressed both: a short bolt striker stroke that reduces the hammering those parts take, and a steel bolt-locking plate in place of the softer item that causes the wear in the first place. The result is a bolt lock that keeps working.
The design borrows from the Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa approach rather than the usual rifle pattern, and the practical upshot is gas efficiency — more shots per fill, which on a cold day is the difference between finishing a game and sitting it out.
Because it is MWS rather than proprietary, the aftermarket is already open to it. Nozzles, bolts, hop units, barrels and magazines built for the platform apply here, which is the single biggest practical advantage a gas rifle can have.

Good to know
The model name says 10.5 and the outer barrel measures 11 inches. That is not an error on our part — the 10.5 refers to the NHR-10.5 handguard, and Double Eagle publish the barrel at 11 inches. Worth knowing before you buy a suppressor sleeve to length.
One magazine is supplied. That is normal for a gas rifle and it is not a game day's worth, so plan on two or three more before your first outing.
Frequently asked questions
What makes the MWS system worth having? Gas efficiency and parts supply. It is the most widely supported gas platform in airsoft, so upgrades and spares are easy to find rather than brand-locked.
Is the Noveske licensing genuine? Yes. EMG and Noveske have licensed it and the trademarks are engraved into the receivers rather than printed on the surface.
What are the fire modes? Safe, semi-automatic and automatic, selected through a 45-degree throw.
Is it left-hand friendly? More than most. The magazine release, bolt catch and charging handle are all ambidextrous, the last of those being Noveske's own Super Badass unit.
