Set up to be run from either shoulder. Magazine release, bolt catch and charging handle are all ambidextrous, the selector throws 45 degrees, and the trigger is a short-pull unit. For a left-handed shooter this is a rarer find than the colour suggests.

Most AR replicas pay lip service to being ambidextrous and then put the bolt catch where only a right hand can reach it. This one does the job properly: both the catch and the magazine release work from either side, and Double Eagle were authorised to fit Noveske's own ambidextrous Super Badass charging handle rather than a generic part.

The small controls matter as much. A 45-degree selector throw means your thumb moves half as far between safe and firing, and a short-pull trigger shortens the travel before the shot breaks. Neither shows up in a photograph and both change how the rifle feels in use.

Sniper grey is the quietest of the three finishes on offer. It sits between black and tan and disappears against concrete, steel and overcast light, which covers most urban and industrial sites in this country.

Good to know

This is the middle price of the three finishes, which is worth noticing, because grey usually costs the same as black and here it does not. The pricing follows what our supplier charges per colour.

The 10.5 refers to the NHR-10.5 handguard rather than the barrel; Double Eagle state the outer barrel as 11 inches. The stock is a three-position polymer PDW unit with a QD sling point on it.

Frequently asked questions

Is it genuinely ambidextrous? The magazine release, bolt catch and charging handle all are. That is further than most AR replicas go.

What is a 45-degree selector? A short-throw safety. Your thumb travels half the usual distance to go from safe to firing, which is quicker under pressure.

Does it take standard MWS magazines? Yes. It is built on the MWS system, and one 35-round aluminium magazine is supplied.

How does the grey compare to the other finishes? It is less conspicuous than black on concrete and less distinctive than tan on dry ground. A sensible choice for urban and industrial sites.
