Grey, and the least conspicuous way to own a short AR. Sniper grey reads as neither black nor tan, which on British sites — concrete, steel, wet brick and flat light for half the year — is usually the right answer.

Colour choice on airsoft guns tends to be decided by taste rather than ground. That is fine, but if you do want the practical option, grey is it in this country. Black reads as a hard silhouette against almost anything pale; tan stands out against wet greenery. Grey sits in between and is the finish that disappears in an industrial building on an overcast day.

The rifle underneath is identical to the rest of the 7.94 inch family. Metal upper and lower receivers with Noveske trademarks engraved rather than printed, an aluminium NHR-7 inch rail, a 229mm tightbore and a three-position PDW stock, all on the MWS gas system with its wide aftermarket.

Worth noting that the short handguard limits how much you can hang off the front. On a gun this compact that is a feature rather than a restriction, but it does mean choosing between a light and a grip rather than fitting both.

This is the dearest of the three 7.94 inch finishes, which is the reverse of how the 10.5 inch version is priced — there, grey is the middle option and tan is the dearest. The difference comes from our supplier's pricing rather than anything about the guns.

The inner barrel is 229mm, the same as the longer rifle in this family, so you are not trading accuracy for the shorter format.
