Until now, knowing your muzzle velocity meant finding the site chrono, queuing behind six other people and taking three shots over a sensor. The SOL puts that sensor permanently on the end of the barrel. It reads every shot you take, all day, and keeps the numbers. That changes what tuning means: instead of adjusting a spring or a regulator and hoping, you can see what the change actually did across a magazine rather than across three rounds.
It works on its own. Fit it, charge it, and you get tracer illumination, a multicolour muzzle flash and live chronograph readings in the GCS app without any other GATE hardware in the gun. Pair it with a compatible ASTER II or TITAN II and four more things unlock: tracer and muzzle flash become assignable to selector positions, so you can switch the tracer off for full-auto and on for semi without reaching for your phone; the unit warns you when the gun has fired without a BB in it; you can set an FPS ceiling with an optional block on further firing if a shot goes over; and on an HPA setup it will calibrate valve timing automatically from its own measurements.
The FPS lockout is the feature worth thinking about if you run a gun near a site limit. Most limits are enforced by a marshal with a chrono at the start of the day, which tells you nothing about what the gun is doing after two hours of gas cooling or a battery sagging. A ceiling set in software, measured at the muzzle on every shot, is a different kind of safety net — and it is the gun stopping itself rather than someone pulling you off the field.
Velocity measurement is rated below 400 m/s with 1% accuracy at 100 m/s, and it will keep up with continuous fire to 35 rounds per second. The body is 32mm across and 90mm long, weighs 85.3g without the adapter, and runs a built-in 450mAh Li-ion cell charged over USB-C in about two and a half hours. GATE quote up to 24,000 activations per charge on tracer alone, or about 12,000 with the muzzle flash running as well. It wakes itself on motion, so there is no switch to forget.

Good to know
Do I need a GATE ETU to use it? No. Tracer, muzzle flash, settings and chronograph readings all work on their own through GCS. An ASTER II or TITAN II only adds the selector control, the no-BB alert, the FPS ceiling and HPA valve-timing calibration.
Is there a licence or paid unlock? No. The integration features need the hardware but no extra payment, and they work across the BASIC and ADVANCED firmware tiers.
Will it adjust my HPA pressure for me? No. Pressure stays a manual job at the regulator. What it calibrates automatically is valve timing, using its own velocity readings.
Can the tracer and chronograph run at the same time? Yes. Illumination, muzzle flash and measurement all run together.
Does it come with a cable? No USB-C cable is supplied. Charge it for at least three hours before the first use.
When do pre-orders go out? GATE despatch the first production run in early November 2026 and have not named a day within that window. We update this page and email every pre-order customer as soon as they give us a date.
