The Heretic Labs Tank Grip is the defining component of the Article Series. Every Article — I, II, III, and IV — is built around this grip. Understanding what it does mechanically explains why the Article feels the way it does and why players who upgrade their MTW with one rarely go back.
Standard MTW builds route HPA from an external tank through a grip line that enters the bottom of the pistol grip. The Tank Grip eliminates every part of that system. The HPA tank screws directly into the base of the grip at a 15-degree angle optimised for the speedsoft stance — slightly rearward-angled, sitting against your hand naturally. Inside the grip body, the STORM Category 5 regulator handles pressure reduction, with its gauge facing forward so you can read your operating pressure at a glance without removing anything. The battery lives in a dedicated internal pocket accessible without tools. The airline routes internally from grip to engine. There is no external hardware, no line, no grip-end clutter.
The practical result: fill the tank, connect the battery, and shoot. The rifle is completely self-contained. Weight distribution shifts rearward (the tank is the heaviest HPA component and it’s now at the balance point of the gun rather than on your back). Handling becomes more instinctive. In CQB and speedsoft where speed matters, the difference between this and a grip-line setup is immediately noticeable.
The glass-filled nylon construction is the right material choice here: lighter than metal, rigid enough to withstand the tank’s weight and the forces of rapid cycling, and resistant to the kind of knocks a speedsoft grip takes in close quarters. Rugged design with quality construction.
