Every AEG motor is a compromise between two things. Wind it for torque and it will drag a heavy spring round without complaining but will never be quick. Wind it for speed and it spins faster for the same voltage, which is what you feel as trigger response and rate of fire, so long as you have not asked it to compress something enormous.
That makes a speed motor the right choice for a gun running a sensible spring at skirmish power, which in the UK is most of them. Paired with a decent battery it tightens up the gap between pulling the trigger and the BB leaving, and on semi that gap is the whole game.
Long type refers to the axle, not the can. Version 2 gearboxes with a long motor cage take this one; version 3 and some bodies take a short axle, and the two are not interchangeable because the pinion has to meet the bevel gear in the right place.

Good to know before you buy
Check long against short before you order. The axle length is set by your gearbox and motor cage, not by preference. If you are not sure which your gun takes, tell us the model and we will look it up.
Set the motor height after fitting. The grip screw underneath sets how deeply the pinion meets the bevel gear, and both too deep and too shallow will eat the gears. Wind it in until the gun sounds smooth under load, then back off a touch.
A speed motor is not a cure for a heavy spring. If your gun is over-sprung and down-rated at the chrono, fix the spring first. Springs and gears are in our gearbox parts section.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between high speed and high torque?
How the motor is wound. Speed spins faster for the same voltage and pulls less hard; torque is the reverse. Our high torque Nuprol motor is in the same motors section.
What rate of fire will I get?
That depends on your battery, spring, gears and air seal far more than on the motor, so a figure quoted here would be meaningless. Tell us your build and we will give you a realistic answer.
Does Nuprol publish the RPM?
Not for this motor, so we have not put a number in the table. We would rather show you a blank than a figure we cannot stand behind.
Do I need a new battery as well?
Possibly. A speed motor asks for current, and a tired NiMH or a low C rating pack will blunt the improvement. Packs are in our battery section.
