Shield-shaped groove, silicone compound, no warm-up. The MR Hop for AEG uses a shield-shaped groove in the contact pad to spread the hop effect over a wider area of the BB. Moulded in silicone, it works from the first shot rather than needing a magazine to come up to temperature.

The shield groove is the point of difference. A plain flat pad presses on the BB; a grooved pad wraps a wider area of it, and Maple Leaf shape that groove so the hop effect builds as the tensioner or lever presses into it rather than all at once.

Choosing silicone over rubber buys consistency in the cold and a useful advantage with heavy BBs. Silicone does not need the few magazines of warm-up that a rubber bucking wants before it settles, which matters most on the first game of a winter morning.

It keeps the steel C-ring air seal carried over from the Transformers series, so the lip stays stiff against the barrel window instead of relaxing as the gearbox heats the hop unit through a long firefight.

Good to know before you buy

Silicone is the reason to buy this over the rubber MR. No warm-up, steadier behaviour in the cold, and better manners with heavy ammo. In mid-summer a rubber bucking grips marginally harder, so the two are seasonal alternatives rather than an upgrade path.

It is an AEG part. This is the AEG-length bucking and will not fit a VSR or a gas pistol chamber. The VSR and GBB versions of the MR Hop are listed separately in hop up units and hop rubbers.

Check the nub as well as the bucking. A grooved pad only works if the tensioner presses into the groove squarely. A tired or mis-shaped nub wastes the geometry, and flat hop nubs and tensioners sit alongside the buckings in the same section.

Frequently asked questions

Does it really not need warming up?
Silicone holds roughly the same hardness across a much wider temperature range than rubber, so it does not go through the softening phase a cold rubber bucking does. In practice that means your first magazine behaves like your fifth.

What does the shield groove actually do?
It increases how much of the BB surface the pad touches, and shapes how that contact builds as the tensioner presses in. The intended result is a stronger hop effect for a given amount of tensioner pressure, which helps most with heavier BBs.

Will this fit my VSR?
No. This is the AEG bucking. The MR Hop is also made for VSR and GBB platforms and that is a different part, so order the version that matches your gun rather than trying to make one fit.

Is silicone more fragile than rubber?
It is not weaker, but it does not like petroleum-based solvents, which swell the compound and spoil the lip shape. Clean it with nothing stronger than water or a silicone-safe lubricant and it will last as well as any bucking.

⚠ AEG and VSR buckings are not interchangeable. The AEG part is a different length and lip profile from the VSR and GBB version of the same bucking. Forcing the wrong one into a chamber distorts the lip, breaks the air seal and can jam the BB feed. Check which platform you are ordering for.
💡 Titan Forge Airsoft tip: Fit a fresh bucking and a fresh nub together. Both are consumables, both wear at similar rates, and changing one against a worn other makes it impossible to tell which part fixed or broke the grouping. More AEG internals sit in spare and upgrade parts.
