Fogging happens when warm humid air (your breath, body heat) meets a cold lens surface. Single-pane lenses fog because the inner surface tracks ambient temperature: cold morning + warm exhaled breath = condensation on the inside of the lens. Anti-fog coatings help, but coatings degrade over time and fail completely in extreme conditions. The THERMAL design is a mechanical fix rather than a chemical one.
Two polycarbonate panes are bonded around the lens perimeter with a sealed air gap between them. The outer pane handles impact and tracks outside temperature. The inner pane — the one your breath actually contacts — is thermally isolated from the cold outer pane by the air gap, the same physics as double-glazed windows in winter. Inner lens stays warmer; condensation doesn't form.
Real-world result: winter games where you'd normally pull eye-pro off every 10 minutes to wipe it, you can keep the THERMAL visor on and keep playing. Indoor CQB sites with high humidity behave similarly. The trade-off is a slight increase in lens weight (the two panes add maybe 15g over the single-pane version) and the bonded edges are slightly thicker, but field of view is unchanged.
Twenty frame/lens combinations including the widest colour palette in the Nuprol range — Battle Visor THERMAL is the only variant available in Blue, Orange, Purple, Red, and full Yellow. The wider palette reflects the THERMAL's status as a speedsoft/match-loadout favourite where high-vis colours signal team affiliation.
