The Pathfinder is the Vanguard model for players who want the look of a classic M4A1 carbine. A-frame front sight base, ribbed early-pattern handguard, and a vertical foregrip in the box — it's the throwback aesthetic. The trick is that underneath the retro furniture sits the Vortex programmable Electronic Trigger Unit that defines the Vanguard range.
The Vortex ETU is what separates Vanguard from Pioneer. The fire selector becomes a programmable interface: semi-only, 2/3/4/5-round burst, binary trigger mode, or full-auto. Site rules change between locations and between days — semi-only at one site, full-auto allowed at another — and the Vanguard lets you reconfigure to match without swapping rifles. The Deans wiring also improves trigger response over the Pioneer's small Tamiya setup.
Mechanically it shares the Pioneer family's reinforced V2 gearbox, 18:1 steel gears, 8mm bearings, M90 quick-change spring, rotary hop, and 6.03mm precision inner barrel. The difference is purely the electronics layer — same mechanical reliability, more fire-mode flexibility. At ~330 FPS with 0.20g it's UK-site-legal out of the box.
