Four litres when you need nothing, fourteen when you do. A VX Buckle Up pack with a main and a front compartment that both expand, removable shoulder straps, MOLLE attachment, a hydration and comms outlet and a grab handle. 700D Polytech, 540 grams, five colours.

The reason to own an expandable pack rather than a big one is that most of the day you are not carrying much. Folded down this sits close enough to your back to run with, and when you pick up a spare pack, a jacket and somebody else’s pyro it opens out to roughly three times the volume without flapping about.

It is built around the VX Buckle Up system, so it clips to a VX carrier as a single unit and the whole back of your rig becomes the pack’s mount. The shoulder straps are adjustable and come off entirely, which is what you want when the carrier is already doing the carrying.

The details are the useful part. A D-ring takes a chest rig, an outlet passes a hydration tube or a comms lead out of the main compartment, the zips are low profile rather than chunky, and there is a loop panel for an identifying patch.

Good to know before you buy

It is a VX pack first and a rucksack second. Clipped to a VX Buckle Up carrier it is excellent; worn on the straps alone it is a small daysack with no hip belt. The carriers are in our plate carriers section.

Fourteen litres is the expanded figure. Pack for the folded size and treat the expansion as capacity for what you pick up, not for what you set off with. Expanded and full it sits a long way off your back.

The outlet is for a bladder or a lead, not a bladder itself. No reservoir is included, and a slim one is a far better fit here than a three litre one. Ask us and we will say what goes in.

Frequently asked questions

Does it come with a hydration bladder?
No. There is an outlet to pass a tube or a comms lead out of the main compartment, and the reservoir is a separate purchase.

Can I take the shoulder straps off?
Yes, they are adjustable and removable. Most people run it strapless on a VX carrier and put the straps back on when they want it as a standalone pack.

How much does it actually hold?
Viper quote roughly four to fourteen litres depending on how far it is expanded. Folded it takes a jacket and a water bottle; opened it takes a loadout.

Will it fit a non-Viper carrier?
It has MOLLE attachment as well as the VX Buckle Up fitting, so it will mount to a MOLLE panel on another carrier. The buckle system itself is Viper specific.

⚠ Do not fill it to fourteen litres and then run. Fully expanded, the weight sits well behind your spine and will drag you around in a fight. Use the expansion for the walk back, not for the push.
💡 Titan Forge Airsoft tip: Pack the front compartment with the things you need on the move and the main one with the things you need at the end. On a VX carrier you cannot reach the main compartment without taking the pack off, which you will discover at the wrong moment otherwise. More in our Viper Tactical section.
