Most airsoft shooting happens well inside the distance a rifle scope is designed for, and that single fact decides whether a scope helps or hinders. At 2x the Crossfire HD behaves almost like an unmagnified sight with a thin cross in it, which is what you want moving through trees. Wind it to 7x and a 32mm objective still gathers enough light to pick a figure out of hedge shadow at the far end of a field. The useful part is that one turn of the zoom ring covers both jobs.
The reticle choice is the decision that actually matters here, and it is not about the cross itself. Both options draw the same simple V-Plex pattern. What differs is where the scope is parallax-corrected: the standard version is set at 100 yards, the Rimfire version at 50. Inside that distance a 100-yard scope shows a small amount of apparent reticle float if your eye is not perfectly centred behind it, and at airsoft ranges you are always inside it. For a woodland or CQB rifle the Rimfire option is the technically correct buy, and that is not a compromise or a downgrade.
Build quality is where the HD designation earns its name. The glass is selected to cut chromatic aberration and every air-to-glass surface is multi-coated, the body is machined from aircraft-grade aluminium and the tube is purged with nitrogen and sealed with O-rings, so it will not fog when you bring it from a cold car boot into a damp wood. Turrets are capped rather than exposed, which on a gun that gets dragged through undergrowth is the right call — your zero cannot be knocked off by a branch. There is 90 MOA of adjustment in each axis in quarter-minute clicks.

Good to know
Which reticle should I pick for airsoft? The Rimfire version, in almost every case. Its 50-yard parallax setting matches the distances you actually shoot at, and the reticle pattern is otherwise the same.
Will 7x be too much? On a sniper or DMR build, no. On a CQB gun you will live at the bottom of the range and should ask whether a magnified scope is the right tool at all — a reflex sight may serve you better.
Does second focal plane matter? It means the reticle stays the same visual size as you zoom, so any subtension marks are only accurate at one magnification. With a plain V-Plex cross there is nothing to hold off with, so it makes no practical difference here.
What rings do I need? One-inch rings or a one-inch mount, which are not included. Match the height to your rail and cheek weld.
