Most people who buy an HPA gun end up modifying it. That is the nature of the platform: once air is doing the work, the engine, the board, the stock and the rail stop being fixed features and start being choices. The Billet Tactical is the configuration that makes the most sense to start from, because nothing on it is a dead end.
The receiver is the exception, and it is the reason to buy a Billet. Wolverine machine it from solid 6061 to hold Intrinsic Alignment, which means the engine, the hop unit and the inner barrel sit on a common axis as the receiver comes off the machine. There is no shimming and nothing to set up, and it is the one property on the gun you cannot retrofit later.
From there everything is a module. The INFERNO Gen 2 becomes an XTS by swapping the engine. The Spartan board becomes a BLINC by swapping the board. The stock becomes a QUAKE recoil unit, or a WRAITH X with a bottle in it. The rail, grip and stock take real AR furniture. You can arrive at any configuration in the range from this starting point.
As it stands it is a 10.3-inch outer barrel over a 285mm inner, which is the length Wolverine measure their efficiency figures on. The Tactical trim is what puts the steel flash hider, the DLG real-steel grip and the milspec stock on it in place of the plainer Standard parts.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 10 inch the right length? For most people, yes. It works indoors without fighting doorways and holds its own outdoors, and it is the length Wolverine publish their efficiency figures against.
What is Intrinsic Alignment? The receiver is machined so the engine, hop and barrel share one axis with no shimming. It is a property of the receiver itself, which is why you cannot add it to a gun that was not built with it.
Does it differ from the Tan version? Only in finish. The Tan gun is the same receiver, engine, board and barrel in a different colour.
How far can I take the upgrades? All the way to any other configuration Wolverine sell. The engine, board, stock, rail and furniture are all replaceable, and the lower receiver stays as it is throughout.
What size tank should I buy? We would go 68ci for a full game day. A 48ci will do a shorter session, and a 13ci is really for the line-free builds.
Is the Standard trim worth saving money on? If you are replacing the grip and stock anyway, yes — the Standard has the same receiver, engine, board and barrel, and only the furniture differs.
