Premium is the tier above Spartan in Wolverine's electronics, and what you are paying for is the little screen. Setting dwell on a Spartan board means counting LED flashes; on a Premium board you read the number, change it, and get on with your day. Anyone who tunes their own rifle notices the difference within a week.
Buying the board separately covers two situations. A Spartan-equipped engine can be upgraded without replacing the engine, and a Premium board that has been drowned, crushed or had a solenoid lead pulled out of it can be replaced for a fraction of a new engine.
The semi-only build exists because a growing number of UK sites restrict full auto outright, and a rifle that physically cannot select it saves an argument at the chrono.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as the M249 FCU? No. The M249 version carries an extra lead for the box magazine and is listed separately.
Can I fit it to a Spartan engine? That is a common upgrade path, but check the loom and connector on your specific engine before ordering.
Which do I need for a semi-only site? The Semi-Only build removes full auto from the board itself rather than relying on a setting, which is what most sites want to see.
