The INFERNO Gen 2 built for the MTW, and nothing else. Wolverine's MTW-specific version of the engine that defined HPA conversions. Supplied as the engine and its o-ring kit.

Most INFERNO listings are drop-in kits for an AEG gearbox. This one is not. It is the version Wolverine build for their own MTW platform, and it is the engine an MTW leaves the factory with. If you are rebuilding a tired MTW, or bringing a second-hand one back to standard, this is the part rather than an AEG kit with an adapter.

Hybrid is the word Wolverine use for the Gen 2, and it earns its place. An open bolt is the easy one to tune and the efficient one to run; a closed bolt is the one that behaves itself at the hop. A patented independent poppet and nozzle gives you both, because loading the BB and firing it become two separate movements with a pause in between.

One solenoid fires it directly, so there is less to set up than on a twin-solenoid engine, and the manufacturer puts the efficiency gain over the previous generation at 10-15%. On an MTW running mid-caps that shows up as magazines per fill, not as a number on a page.

Wolverine supply this one as the engine and an o-ring kit. There is no control board in the box — an MTW already has its own electronics, and this is the part that goes in front of them.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my MTW Shotgun? No. Wolverine list the MTW M4, MTW-9 and MTW-308 as compatible and the MTW Shotgun as not. The Gen-12 shotgun runs the HAVOC engine instead.

Is this the same as the AEG INFERNO Gen 2? No. The AEG versions are drop-in kits for a V2 or V3 gearbox and ship with a control board. This is the MTW-specific engine, supplied without electronics.

What is in the box? The engine and an o-ring kit — that is what the manufacturer lists. No solenoid-valve seal kit, no control board and no airline.

Do I need anything else to run it? A tank, a regulator, a line and a battery, exactly as before. If you are replacing an engine in a working MTW you already have all of it.

What does hybrid actually mean here? That the engine gets the tuning and efficiency of an open-bolt design and the hop-up behaviour of a closed-bolt one, by controlling the poppet and the nozzle independently rather than off one movement.

Before you pressurise it: an engine is fed from a regulator, never straight off a tank output. Set the regulator inside the engine's rated range, depressurise fully before opening anything, and put it over a chrono against your site limit before you play.
💡 Titan Forge Airsoft tip: Order the o-ring service kit at the same time and keep it sealed in the toolbox. The engine arrives with one set; the spare is what turns a dead Sunday into a ten-minute job. See O-Ring Service Kits and the rest of the engine range.
