Wolverine's rifle engines and their sniper engines use different line sizes, which catches people out the moment they own both. The adapter is what lets one regulator, one line and one tank serve either, instead of duplicating the whole air system.
It is also the part that rescues a mixed setup. Plenty of players end up with a line from one brand, a regulator from another and an engine from Wolverine, and the adapter is the legitimate way to join them rather than forcing a fitting that was never meant to mate.
Order by what the engine wants, not by what the line currently has — the line is the easy half to change.

Frequently asked questions
Which size is my engine? INFERNO, HYDRA and SMP take 6mm. The BOLT family takes one-eighth inch.
Can I run a rifle and a sniper off one tank? With the right adapter and a suitable regulator, yes — that is a large part of why this part exists.
Does an adapter reduce flow? Not meaningfully at the pressures and volumes an airsoft engine moves. A kinked line will cost you far more.
