An AK grip hangs on a single long screw, and on an HPA build that grip is usually carrying the battery. A screw that backs out does not just loosen the grip — it drops the power supply out of the bottom of the rifle mid-game.
They also get lost. The screw is long, it lives in a blind channel, and the moment the grip comes off for a battery change it is on the ground somewhere.
There is no sensible substitute from a hardware shop. The length and the head both matter, which is why the genuine screw beats a rummage in a jar.
