If your MTW keeps dropping into programming mode, this is usually why. A tension bracket for the MTW Battery Grip. CR123 cells are not all built to the same length, and a loose one behaves exactly like a deliberate power cycle.

The symptom is distinctive. You are mid-game, the gun is being handled hard, and it suddenly stops behaving — a mode change nobody asked for, or the FCU sitting in programming mode. The instinct is to blame the board or the wiring loom. Usually it is neither.

CR123 cells vary in length between brands, and a pair that sits a fraction short in the grip can break contact for a moment under recoil or a knock. To the control unit, a momentary loss of power is indistinguishable from someone cycling it on purpose, so it does what it is told and drops into programming.
