The solenoid is the valve that meters air into the poppet on every trigger pull. It is the hardest-working component in an HPA engine and, being an electromechanical part with a finite duty cycle, it is the one most likely to need replacing before anything else does. When an engine starts double-feeding, firing weakly, or refusing to cycle at pressures it used to hold, the solenoid is the first thing a tech reaches for.
Wolverine use a common solenoid across four of their engine families, which is unusually convenient for anyone who runs more than one platform. The same part serves an INFERNO in an M4 gearbox, a HYDRA in an offset-nozzle build, an SMP, and a HAVOC. If you keep a spare in your box, it covers whichever of those goes down at a game.

How do I know the solenoid is the problem? Typical signs are inconsistent muzzle energy, the engine cycling intermittently, or a distinct click with no shot. Air leaks and a tired o-ring set produce similar symptoms, so it is worth servicing the seals before condemning the solenoid.
Will one solenoid really fit all four engines? Yes — this is the shared part across those four Wolverine families. It is not compatible with the BOLT or BOLT M, which use a different architecture.
Do I need to re-tune after fitting? Expect to check dwell once the new part is in. A fresh solenoid often responds slightly differently from a worn one, and a short dwell adjustment usually settles it.
