The Spartan concept has not changed: it is a trigger board and a fire control unit in one, built to be robust and set up through the trigger rather than through an app or a screen. That is the whole appeal — fewer parts to fail, and nothing to pair with.
These are the earlier boards, made for the MTW Billet Series before the Black Edition replaced them. If you are rebuilding a Billet and want it back to the configuration it left the factory in, this is the part. If you are happy to move the gun onto the current generation instead, the Black Edition is the one to take.
The difference between the two options here is sealing. The water-resistant version is the one to have if the gun lives outdoors in British weather; the standard version is otherwise identical in function.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the Black Edition board? The Black Edition is the current board and covers the MTW M4, MTW-9, MTW-308, the Shotgun and the Article Series across four firmware builds. These are the earlier Billet-specific boards that came before it.
Which should I buy for a rebuild? If you want the gun exactly as it was, take the matching earlier board. If you would rather have the current generation and its firmware options, take the Black Edition instead — it is a straight replacement.
What does water-resistant actually mean here? Wolverine offered the board in a sealed and an unsealed version. We have not tested either and there is no published IP rating, so treat it as improved resistance rather than a guarantee.
Will it work with my existing wiring? It is the board the Billet Series was built around, so on an unmodified Billet yes. If the gun has been rewired or had a different FCU fitted, send us a photograph before ordering.
