Spartan is the electronics package Wolverine put in their more affordable engine builds, and for most players it does everything needed: fire modes, rate of fire and dwell, all set through the board without an app or a screen. It is a deliberately simple thing, and simple things break less.
Where it matters to have it separately is repair. Electronics are the part of an HPA conversion most likely to die a sudden death — a flooded receiver, a crushed loom, a reversed battery — and being able to replace the board rather than the whole engine keeps a rifle in service.
It also gives a route back for anyone who bought a bare engine second-hand and found the electronics missing or dead.

Frequently asked questions
How does this differ from the Premium board? Premium adds an LED menu you read values from. Spartan is set by button and flash sequence, which is slower but perfectly workable.
Is this the same as the MTW Spartan control board? No. The MTW and Article Series use a Black Edition board, which is a separate listing.
Will it work with a BLINC setup? No. BLINC is Bluetooth electronics and replaces this board entirely rather than working alongside it.
