Standard looms are cut for standard rifles. Put the board somewhere unusual — a stock tube instead of a grip, a chassis with a longer run, a build with the battery moved forward — and the wiring that was perfectly adequate suddenly is not.
Splicing in a length of wire works until it does not. A joint made under a heat-shrink in a dark grip is the sort of thing that fails on a cold morning three games later, and this extension removes the temptation.
Cheap enough that there is no reason to bodge it, which is the entire argument for the part.
