- description
This is the tactical trim of CYMA’s MP5 rather than the classic one. The slim original forend gives way to a polymer handguard carrying 20mm RIS rails, so a torch, a laser or the grip that ships with the gun bolts straight on, while the upper receiver, outer barrel assembly and sights stay alloy.
The stock is the other half of that change. It is an open frame rather than a solid butt, hinged behind the receiver so it swings across and sits flat along the body for carrying, then comes back out and locks for full length of pull. Two positions, nothing to adjust in between.
Underneath, the mechanics are the plain first-generation set: a metal Version 2 gearbox, a long-type motor and mechanical trigger contacts with no electronic unit in the circuit. Simple to wire and simple to work on, and that is the real line between this gun and the Platinum GEN2 build of the same rifle.

Good to know
A vertical grip comes with the gun and is already on the bottom rail, so check before you add another one to the order.
Nothing to power it is included. The pack sits in the handguard on a mini Tamiya plug, which keeps you to stick and mini-block shapes rather than the long nunchuck packs — batteries and chargers are listed on their own.
Frequently asked questions
What battery does it take, and is one supplied?
No pack or charger is in the box. The compartment is in the handguard and the lead ends in a mini Tamiya plug; published figures for this model cover a 7.4V LiPo or an 8.4V NiMH in the stick or mini-block shape.
Which magazines does it feed from?
One 200-round steel hi-cap comes with it, in the standard full-size MP5 shape. If you would rather run mid-caps, match them to that pattern — tell us which ones you are looking at and we will confirm the fit before you order. Others sit in rifle magazines.
Can I fit a tracer unit or a suppressor?
Yes. Take the flash hider off and the outer barrel is threaded 14mm counter-clockwise, the standard airsoft negative thread, so most tracer units screw straight on.
How does the folding stock work?
It pivots behind the receiver and swings sideways until it lies against the body of the gun for transport, then pulls back out and locks open. There is no intermediate setting — it is open or folded.
How does this differ from the GEN2 Platinum version?
The shell and the layout are close; the gearbox is not. The Platinum GEN2 CM041 runs steel ball bearings, a short-stroked CNC gearset, a quick-change spring and a Kestrel electronic trigger. This one runs conventional contacts and a standard V2 build.
