Read the warning below before you buy this one. It is an excellent headband cover in ten colourways — and fitting it means cutting the original band off your headset. That is permanent.

The rigid band a headset ships with does one job. The M61 does two. It carries the cups in the usual way, and the MOLLE webbing and D-ring across the band mean the whole assembly can be hung on a plate carrier, a pack or a rig when it comes off — which is where most headsets get damaged.

Construction is 600D nylon rather than moulded polymer, which is softer under a helmet and considerably more comfortable over a long day. Earmor describe it as universal and compatible with most headsets on the market, and one distributor lists Earmor M31 and M32, Peltor, MSA, Impact and Z-Tactical specifically.

Ten colourways are catalogued, including four Multicam patterns and the two Starry designs, so it can be matched to a rig rather than standing out against it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take it off again afterwards? Not really, because you will have cut the original band off to fit it. Treat this as a one-way modification to that headset.

Is it more comfortable than the standard band? Under a helmet, noticeably. Nylon spreads pressure where a moulded band concentrates it on one line across the crown.

Which Starry pattern is which? Earmor's catalogue shows Starry Green as a green digital pixel camo and Starry Desert as the tan equivalent. Our supplier's two part codes read as though the names may be transposed at source, so if the exact shade decides it, ask us to confirm before ordering.

Can I still helmet-mount the cups? Yes, but not at the same time. A rail kit such as the M11 replaces the band rather than working alongside it — and if you have already cut the original band off, the rail kit becomes the only way back.

⚠ Fitting this destroys the original headband. The band on your headset has to be cut off with scissors or a knife before this cover can be fitted. Earmor do not mention it anywhere; a UK retailer does, and we would rather you heard it from us than found out with the knife in your hand. Be certain before you cut.
