The Maple Leaf Macaron is one of the most respected hop-up rubbers for AEGs. Its signature feature is a concave triangular contact patch that wraps and centres each BB as it leaves the barrel, giving a marked improvement in accuracy and consistency over a standard bucking.
It's available in a range of hardnesses (commonly 50, 60, 70 and 80 degrees, colour-coded), letting you match the rubber to your power and BB weight — softer for lower power, firmer for heavier BBs and full-auto where a soft rubber can overheat.
It's also compatible with both bridged and unbridged inner barrels, which means it can let VSR and GBB-style barrels work in an AEG hop unit. It particularly suits heavier 0.40g and above BBs for long-range work.

Pick the durometer to suit your setup — as a rough guide softer rubbers suit lower FPS, firmer ones suit heavier BBs and sustained fire. Pair with a tightbore barrel and quality BBs for the best of it.
