Eyes and ears in one box, and both of them certified. Ballistic-tested VAPOR COMM frames with three lenses, plus an Earmor M300WXJ built specially for this kit — and both halves carry published standards.

The VAPOR COMM exists because normal eyewear temples and ear defenders fight each other. Thick arms cross the sealing face of an earcup and hold it open, which is the largest avoidable loss of hearing protection there is. Wiley X answered it by making the COMM temples deliberately thin, so the arms disappear under a cup instead of propping it apart.

The frame is a lightweight wrap with a wide field of view and a rubberised twist-lock nose piece that grips rather than slides. It flexes enough to fit most head shapes without pressure points, which matters when it is going under a helmet as well.

Three shields cover the realistic range of light. Clear passes 89 per cent for indoors and dusk. Yellow passes 82 per cent and filters blue light, lifting contrast in low light, fog and overcast. Light rust passes 52 per cent and cuts glare and haze in medium to low light. All three are fully UVA and UVB protective.

The hearing side is an Earmor M300WXJ Special Wiley X Edition, produced for this kit rather than pulled off the standard range. It suppresses sudden sounds above 82 dB while amplifying speech and ambient detail, runs a combined power and volume control wheel, carries a 3.5 mm jack so it can take audio from an external device such as a radio, is IPX5 water resistant and folds for storage. Soft silicone earpads and an adjustable headband handle the fit.

Both halves are certified, which is the real argument for the kit. The eyewear is EN.166F certified, carries ANSI Z87.1 impact protection and is ballistic tested to MIL-PRF-32432A. The hearing protection is tested and certified to ANSI S3.19-1974 and EN 352-1, -4, -6 and -8:2020.

Is this valid eye protection for a UK site? ANSI Z87.1 impact protection is the standard UK sites work to, and this exceeds it with MIL-PRF-32432A ballistic testing on top. Always check your own site's rules.

What attenuation does the M300WXJ give? Neither Wiley X nor Earmor publish an NRR or SNR for this special edition, so we are not going to quote one. What is published is the certification — ANSI S3.19-1974 and the full EN 352 set — and an 82 dB suppression threshold. If a rated number is what you need, the M300T at SNR 29 / NRR 22 publishes one.

Can I plug a radio into the ear protection? Yes. The M300WXJ carries a 3.5 mm jack for external devices, which is unusual on a bundled headset and one of the better reasons to take this kit over buying the parts separately.

Why buy the kit rather than the parts? Because the thin COMM temples and the earcups are designed around each other. Buying a normal frame and a normal muff reintroduces the seal problem this kit exists to solve.

⚠ Thin temples are the point, so do not swap them. Fitting a thicker frame to save money puts the sealing problem straight back. If a set of glasses props the cup open, the hearing protection is not doing what its certification says.
