The i4 has been DYE’s reference mask for years, and the reason is restraint: it is light, it sits close to the face, and it does not put more plastic between you and the field than it needs to. For airsoft that slim profile is worth more than it is in paintball — it is what lets you get a cheek on a stock.
The lens is DYE’s anti-fog thermal, built as two panes with a sealed gap, and they rate it for optical clarity across weather rather than just in the dry. Changing it is a quick job, which matters because tint is the single easiest adjustment you can make to how well you see on a given day.
The mask carries ASTM certification, a chin strap and proper ear coverage — worth saying plainly, because ear protection is the thing people discover they wanted after the first point-blank hit.

Frequently asked questions
Should I buy this or the i4 Pro?
It comes down to the strap. The i4 Pro carries DYE’s GSR Pro ratchet strap with an oversized head pad, the same one fitted to the i5. The mask body, lens and certification are the i4’s.
Which lenses fit it?
The i4 and i5 share a lens, so anything in the i4/i5 thermal lenses range will go in — clear, smoke, yellow and the mirrored DYEtanium finishes.
Is it legal for UK site use?
It is ASTM certified, which is the standard UK sites generally ask for on eye protection. Always check with the site you are playing — some set their own rules on mesh, on full-seal and on lens age.
Can I replace the foam when it wears out?
Yes, and you should — foam is what fails first on any mask. The i4 foam kit is listed separately and comes with the glue to fit it.
Does it come with a chin strap?
Yes. DYE list a chin strap and ear protection as part of the goggle rather than as extras.
