The headline on an i5 is the lens. DYE call it the Horizon 290: a compound-radius thermoformed lens that gives 290 degrees of peripheral vision, which is more than anything else they have put on a mask. Movement at the edge of your eyeline registers rather than disappearing, and that is a tactical difference rather than a comfort one. The glass carries a hard-coat dip on both faces against scratching and a UV coating on top of it.
The GSR Pro strap replaced a buckle with a gear lock. Turn the dial and the mask ratchets down to an exact tension, and the extra-wide head pad grips the back of the skull and spreads that load instead of concentrating it. Once set, it stays set — which is the whole point.
Around that, the v11.5 mask gives more coverage without more bulk; Scream multi-directional venting angles the blades to dump heat and moisture and lets your voice out; and the compression-formed ear guards are shaped with hole patterns that let sound through cleanly rather than sealing your ears off. The foam is soft-touch multi-layer with a terry cloth face, and it releases without tools when it wears.

DYE claim more peripheral vision than any other paintball mask, at 290 degrees, through a compound-radius lens rather than a simple curve. In practice it is the far edges you notice — someone moving wide stays in view instead of vanishing until you turn your head.
Does it take the same lenses as the i4?
Yes. DYE state the i4 and i5 use the same lens, so the whole i4/i5 thermal lenses range fits either mask.
Is it certified for UK site use?
DYE state the i5 is tested at twice the current ASTM and CE impact standards. Sites set their own rules on top of that, so check with yours — particularly on lens age and on full-seal requirements.
What is e.VOKE and do I need it?
An optional electronics kit that links the goggle to a DYE M2 marker over a wireless connection for in-game alerts. It is a paintball feature, it is sold separately, and nothing about the mask depends on it.
How quickly does the foam come out?
Seconds. DYE made it a tool-free quick-release cartridge rather than a glued-in pad — replacements are the i5 foam kit.
Can I add top-of-head protection?
Yes — we print a 3D printed head shield that mounts to the i4 and i5 frames and covers the crown and sides.
