Support guns are the platform HPA suits best and the one least often converted. A box mag, a long belt of trigger time and a barrel that never gets a rest is exactly the duty cycle that punishes a spring gearbox. An HPA engine does not care: no piston, no spring, no gears, and consistent velocity from the first round of a two-hundred-round burst to the last.
The engine itself is the hybrid Gen 2. Run a bolt open and it tunes readily and sips air; run one closed and the hop behaves. Wolverine's patented independent poppet and nozzle takes both, by separating the moment a BB is chambered from the moment it is fired.
The board in this kit is the Gen 2 Premium FCU rather than the simpler Spartan, which means rate of fire, dwell and burst behaviour are all set on the gun instead of being fixed.
It is the M249 cylinder that makes this a distinct kit rather than a fitment note. Do not order the V2 M4 version for a support gun and expect it to work.

Frequently asked questions
Why is there a separate M249 version? The cylinder is different. Wolverine list M249 as its own kit alongside the V2 M4 and V3 AK options rather than as a fitment of them.
Premium or Spartan electronics? This one is Premium. That is the board with the deeper configuration menu; Spartan is the pared-back one, and Wolverine do not offer it on the M249 kit anyway.
What else do I need? A tank, a regulator, a line and a small battery. Wolverine also make an M249 wire harness, which is the tidy way to route it through a support gun.
Can you fit it for me? Yes. A belt-fed build takes longer to route and tidy than a carbine, and it is bench work rather than a car-park job. It goes over the chrono before it comes back to you.
Why not just run a spring gearbox with a good MOSFET? You can, and plenty do. The argument for air on a support gun is duty cycle: nothing in the system is being compressed and released thousands of times an hour, so velocity at the end of a long burst is the same as at the start.
