A hop spring does one job: it keeps pressure on the adjuster so the setting you dialled in stays dialled in. When it tires, the symptom is not dramatic — the gun simply drifts. You set the hop at the start of a game and by the third engagement it is not where you left it.
That is easy to blame on the bucking, the nub, the barrel, or the BBs, and people usually replace all of those first. The spring is the easiest thing on that list to rule out, so rule it out first.
This is the genuine Wolverine part for the MTW AK specifically. The AK build uses its own hop components rather than sharing with the M4, which is why it has its own part number.
