The APC9 HPA series isn't a gas conversion or a quick HPA bolt-on. Archwick collaborated with MechLabs to integrate a specially modified XX-Mod mechanical HPA engine directly into the APC9 chassis, with airflow tuning optimised for the platform's compact frame and short inner barrel. The result is a UK-legal HPA SMG with no batteries, no FCU, no solenoid noise — just a crisp mechanical trigger that fires the moment you pull it.
Trigger response is the practical advantage of a fully mechanical HPA SMG in CQB. There's no motor to spin up, no solenoid coil to cycle, no FCU delay between trigger contact and BB launch. The XX-Mod fires the BB on the same trigger stroke that releases the sear. For close-quarter play where reaction time matters, this is measurable on a high-speed camera and immediately obvious on the field. The system is also waterproof, so APC9 owners can play through any British weather without worrying about electronics.
Externally the APC9 series is what you'd expect from a fully licensed B&T platform. CNC T6061-T6 aluminium upper receiver with milspec Type III hard-anodised finish, CNC steel internal parts, ambidextrous non-reciprocating charging handles, mag releases and bolt catches on both sides, M-LOK handguard, 1913 STD accessory rails, IMI flip-up sights, and an AR-style pistol grip that can be swapped for any standard M4/M16/AR-15 grip. The Pro features a side-folding polymer UMP-style stock; the K models use a multi-position steel telescoping stock with rubber buttpad; the SD variants ship with a mock suppressor.
Model selection summary — the four variants share the engine and receiver but differ in external profile. APC9K is the compact base SMG. APC9PRO is the full-size variant modelled on the US Army SCW submission. APC9 SD Compact adds a 75mm single-stage mock suppressor and a side-folding stock. APC9K-SD2 is the integral-suppressor compact variant with a removable extension barrel that lets you switch between CQB and standard configurations. All four use Archwick APC9 magazines for high-ROF feeding reliability.
